After getting over a cold, Pops took me to the backyard to have my hand at fishing. I needed to get out and rid myself of cabin fever. I was glad when Pops offered to help catch fish. When he mentioned fish, I automatically thought of monster fish like muskies and Northern pikes. Who would have guessed he was referring to crappies. They're fun to catch but they're very small. Hopefully, I'll catch my first monster fish this year.
If you haven't tried fishing yet, I definitely recommend it. If you don't know what you're doing, call my Pops.
I believe fishing is in my blood. I come from an elite lineage of fishermen. So when Pops when took me out fishing last month, it was no surprise I was able to hook a fish and drag him to shore. Of course we practiced catch and release. It's the only way to fish.
I'm striving to get enough fishing experience under my belt so Pops can take me to Canada soon. I missed the boat this year, but may be next year I'll get to experience the land of 1,000 walleyes.
Yesterday was a great day. Pops and I went to the zoo (NO stroller, mind you). We saw monkeys, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, bears, goats..even a mountain in the middle of the zoo. And yes, I can say all those animals' names. I had a 20 minute nap on the way home (hell on pops but I don't want to miss anything). Then Pops took my trucks, my bucket and my shovel outside to the sandbox (ok..so it's a horse shoe pit..so what).
BUT WAIT!!! It gets better!
So Pops, Bo and myself are playing in the sand. Filling buckets, playing trucks, gettin' dirty. All that good stuff. And what does Pops do?? (THIS is genius) He gets a fishing pole and sets it up outside the gate in our lake! Apparently that's my other playground.
So there we are playing trucks and whatnot when all of the sudden Pops says " Leo, I think there's a fish on the fishing pole!"
I couldn't contain myself! I ran to the gate, all the way yelling "fshing!fshing! fsh fsh fsh!!"
And look at what I got! My first fish...and a BEEEEG FSH at that!
I would have written more about the zoo, but c'mon...did you SEE the size of my first fish??!!
MomShe's my number one source for hugs and kisses. We often find ourselves dancing to Weezer in the kitchen or chilling out together while watching Bob the Builder.
Pops He's Mr. Excitement. Whenever it's quality time between Pops and me, we are always out and about. He's an uber male since he cooks, cleans, and does anything outdoorsy except hunting. Pops promised me that he'll take me fishing this spring.
Grandmama That's Dad's mom. I spend many days with Grandmama doing cerebral things like painting and reading. I do prefer her without her glasses since she looks "odd" with them on.
Grandpapa He's Dad's dad. I love Grandpapa because he doesn't judge me when I make weird sounds that don't necessarily come out of my mouth. He's a man's man. Papa is the most honorable person that I know.
Nonna She is Mom's mom. I always find Nonna baking in the kitchen making some yummy treat for us to eat. I love my Fridays because I know that's when Nonna is here.
Bo Bear He's a show bear...do do do dododoooo. He's the only dog I know that comes with his own theme song. Bo is a yellow-white lab. He may be big as a bear but he's a big softy.
Zero Kitty She's a very shy kitty. I miss her very much. Zero was the best kitty I ever knew. RIP July 2009
